Interior Windows, Part 2

This is our Master Bathroom. I’ll give many more details about this entire room in a later posting, but for now, let’s focus on this interior window we installed. In this picture you can see the one and only exterior window on the left, so to let natural light into my husband’s vanity area, and also to add character to the room, I found and had installed this leaded glass window. I didn’t do a thing to this window after it came from here, where I purchased it, besides cleaning it. (by the way, I have found Ebay one of the best sources for old windows) I, ... Keep Reading...

Interior Windows, Part 1

Letting in the Light In ‘Our House’ we have several interior windows we’ve installed. This is the first one that I’m featuring in part 1 of this series. When we first bought this house, the hall was very dark with no natural light source. However, the room on the other side of this wall has a beautiful South facing window that is normally flooded with natural light, so I wanted to get some of that light into the hallway. Even though these pictures show the little candles currently lit in them, typically on a sunny day, the natural ... Keep Reading...

All Ready for Christmas Dinner…

Merry Christmas, let’s eat! So here it is, the Crate and Barrel inspired Christmas centerpiece. Beautiful on a Christmas dining table, but could easily be used any time of the year, minus the ‘snow’ and change up the evergreen boughs for something different, like maybe fern leaves, or fall leaves, or even small rocks and pebbles. Old Cupboard Finally Finds New Life

This old cupboard came from the basement of a Victorian home we owned several years ago. In its former life it held canned goods in the cellar. It had no back and was an obvious ‘testing ground’ for paint as it had been painted light yellow with gold and green spray paint on part of it. At first glance it was hideous.  ... Keep Reading...

Christmas Cones for Chairs

In our kitchen, we have an island with three stools and a pot-rack that hangs over the island. This year for Christmas I hung these ‘Christmas cones’ I made, on the back of the stools and decorated the pot-rack with coordinating ribbon on swags. I picked up the fabrics at our local hardware store that has a ‘dollar table’ for fabric. Less than 1/2 yard of each of the green ‘twelve days of Christmas’ fabric and the blue/gray check fabric would be enough to make these cones and the ribbon for the pot-rack swags. I had the red vintage ribbon ... Keep Reading...

A Pair of Partridges and a Tree Pillows

This pair of partridge pillows and coordinating tree branch with birdhouses pillow I sewed up this week after being inspired from the Crate and Barrel catalogue a couple days ago. (see post: Christmas Pillow Inspiration for the Crate and Barrel version). Their version is mostly red with brown log cabins and snow, cute but not the right colors for our living room. For our space, I wanted colors to bring in Christmas cheer while coordinating with our current colors. Oh, and I wanted to be able to do this project 100% from supplies I had already, ...
