Furniture makeovers of a piece of furniture or accessory can sometimes be that it only needs to be cleaned, oiled or just set in the right spot and appreciated. But other times, to open up one’s imagination and see something with fresh eyes can bring about a really fun and creative project.
When I start all my furniture makeovers I try to take a step back and really examine the furniture piece for it’s sculptural quality. I also like to really zoom in and try to notice little things it may need to sturdy it up again. But I definitely like to look at the piece of furniture like a canvas to create art with.
I find that rescuing vintage and antique furniture is quite satisfying. I love that I am saving it from just being thrown away. Also, I have a great appreciation for the quality of older pieces of furniture. Plus, the history of life that each piece bears can be intriguing to think about too.
On this page I am sharing furniture makeovers of pieces I’ve either redone or even just studied to find out more about the history of it. I’ll show you what I’ve learned on best ways to clean a piece, how to properly sand furniture, how to stain and varnish, wax and paint, apply transfers, stencil and more fun ways and techniques. Covering with you products, techniques and many tips I’ve learned over the years of redoing furniture.
