Favorite Kitchen Tools

After keeping a house for over 45 years, I have definitely found some favorite kitchen tools that I use over and over.

It dawned on me to share those favorites with you after I was cleaning up an old post here in the blog. (After taking over a year off from the blog while we moved and moved again, it needs a lot of cleaning up!)

In that old post I told you how much I loved THIS grease splatter shield my daughter gave me and why it was superior to the old one I had. Guess what, 10 years later and I still love it, and use it every time I fry on the stove! It is still in excellent condition too. That’s after countless times going through the dishwasher. So I thought sharing some more kitchen tips here might be helpful for you!

More Favorites

Here, in no special order, are some of my favorite kitchen tools that I use daily. Their convenience and quality has stood up to the test of time.

Number 1

THIS jar opener!

I actually sold some when I had my Fusion Mineral Paint shop for opening pint jars of paint with.

It is made of a textured rubber material that grips a jar lid and makes opening it so much easier!

Number 2

THIS veggie peeler!

I have tried so many different vegetable peelers. Some only glide across the veggie and barely cut into the peel.

Some only cut if you’re pushing it away from you.

This veggie peeler easily cuts the peel off whether I’m pushing it away from me, like a carrot, or pulling it towards me, as when peeling a potato.

Also, the handle is easy to grip and doesn’t slip around in your hand.

Number 3

THIS lemon juicer!

I start my day with the juice of a lemon in a glass of water.

Trying to use a reamer just doesn’t get enough of the juice for me, and then the seeds are mixed in. Plus, I still have morning strength, so this little juicer with simple lever power is perfect.

Here’s a tip. When placing a half lemon in the juicer, place it cut end down, that way when the green lid squeezer comes down onto the peel, it easily squishes the juice out the bottom where the holes are in the yellow part.

Number 4

This next one looks like a jar opener, but is not.

THIS silicone pad!

Unlike the jar opener, this silicone pad is a little bit slippery. But it’s fantastic for setting on the counter or table for a quick and easy trivet.

It’s so lightweight and thin, I just toss it in the drawer with the hot pot holders so it’s always handy.

I use it for both pans off the stove, out of the oven and to set hot dishes from the microwave on. Made from silicone, it is totally heat resistant and won’t melt from the heat.

Number 5

Finally, one of my 5 favorite kitchen tools is the only electric tool I’m mentioning today.

THIS can opener!

Some days my hands and wrists can really hurt, (getting old LOL). This electric can opener has been a lifesaver!

I love it not only for the ease to open a can, but also because of the way it works. This can opener actually cuts through on the top side seam so there are no sharp cans or lids to worry about.

The other day I made a double recipe of chili, which meant I had to open about 20 cans of beans, tomatoes and sauce… Boy was I ever glad to have this!

Here is the shopping list. Click the highlighted word to shop for the item.

  1. Jar Opener
  2. Veggie Peeler
  3. Lemon and Lime Juicer
  4. Silicone Hot Pad
  5. Can Opener

Thanks, but I already have a jar opener — a husband.

LOL That works too, as long as he’s home when you need a jar opened. đŸ˜‰
