Do you have wood cabinets, furniture or floor that you would like to change the color of, but don’t want to have to strip it down to bare wood? Fusion Gel Stain and Topcoat might just be the perfect product for you!
Hi, Liz here from the Redo Your Furniture (aka Frame and Frills) workroom… just starting a new project!
I have this mahogany, (or some sort of very red/orange wood) antique table that I want to use in our living room. I’d like a wood top with painted base, but the current orange woodtone doesn’t go with my color scheme and I’d love to not have to strip it all back down to bare wood to get a different colored stain on it.
Here’s what I’m going to do…
I’m going to go right over the existing varnish finish with an extremely durable product we stock in the Frame and Frills shop.
Fusion Gel Stain & Topcoat is a great option for this! It’s actually designed for just such a treatment.
Available in 4 different colors, well actually 3 colors: Black, Double Espresso, Greystone and the 4th is a non-pigmented color called Patina. Gel Stain & Topcoat is oil/solvent based, so does have an odor and takes a while to dry. It is fully cured in about 5 days, and is tough enough for floors!
Here are more details in this quick video I made to show you how Fusion Gel Stain and Topcoat goes on this table top:
