I’ve told you how much I love to find treasures… vintage finds are so fun. I love to imagine the story of history behind the piece.
I used to go to every garage sale I could find, but now I find my time, (and energy LOL) is more limited. Something I learned when I do go is to not only shop for myself, but to shop for others… If I see an interesting vintage collectible that looks like it’s a fair price, I’ll try to snag it, even if I’m not going to keep it for myself.
Some treasures I find I keep for family gifts. (I have 3 daughters/daughter-in-laws, and 6 grandkids to shop for!)
Other treasures that come my way, I’m super excited to re-sell, (having to sell some of my finds, helps support my other ‘to keep’ purchases!). Depending on what the piece is, I may try to market it a couple different ways, but lately my favorite way is to list them on my eBay store.
I have some sold pretty interesting things on eBay. One of my largest pieces was this:
An old ‘Jalopy’ pinball machine. I first tried to sell it on just the local market, but there wasn’t enough interest. Then when I opened up the market to the nation, I found a buyer from Florida, (or should I say they found me). It turned out to be the perfect item for their business and they arranged all the shipping and transportation issues.
We had the pinball for a while for our own personal use, (here is the attic we renovated ) but as we were thinking to downsize from the three story 100 year old house to what is now our current house, a mid-century Colonial Revival Cottage, (here you can read all about our current renovation project) I decided it was something we were going to need to part with.
Another fun vintage piece I sold was this:
A very vintage paper-mache Santa, sleigh and celluloid deer set I found at a garage sale. Some of the pieces I found at that sale I kept for myself, but this wonderfully charming set I knew would be perfect for someone that avidly collected vintage Santas.
I always try to price the items I’m selling on eBay a little below market price. I love to get a good deal, and I want others to enjoy that same feeling.
Here are a few of the current pieces I have listed,
This piece I found and am selling to someone that appreciates that vintage 1970’s style Christmas decor:
There are many fun pieces in my eBay store right now… most have a ‘buy it now’ price if you want to beat the stress of possibly not winning it at auction.
One last item I’ll share here, I’m constantly looking for fun treasures, you never know what will get listed next!!)
Aren’t these vintage Santa mugs so so cute:
