So far in this dining room, I’ve shown you the difference in the chandelier, from dated to a more fitting style for the house, as well as the big before and after pics of the room.
So let’s get into the details… It is the details that can sometimes make or break a room.
Above the buffet is the original built in mirror… with a few flaws in the silvering… so with the zinc ‘g-a-t-h-e-r’ letters, it all looks beautiful and vintage.
(the gather letters came from Anthropologie) and I have to say, they are so perfect on the buffet!
She has repeated the metal and glass accent in this room with a few accents, like this mercury glass vase.
It sits on the original shelf built for the radiator.
This radiator had been painted that same nasty reddish brown as the walls, so painting it this wonderful bronze was a welcome change, and looks great now. (that’s the same paint, in fact, the same can of paint still, that I painted the counter in my bathroom, and painted all the radiators at the little brick cottage with… one quart has gone a long, long way!)
The rug in the dining room is a really good quality, hand tufted wool rug, that they found on Craigslist!
The table and chairs are from IKEA.
I love how the weathered plank wood of the table contrasts with the dark woodwork in the room. And how the cream chairs pull that cream from the walls into the center of the room.
The mixture of texture on the balls in the metal leaf basket on the table sums up the loveliness of the room… warm, inviting, casual yet sophisticated.
I love this room, can you tell?
