The front of ‘Our House’ has a very symmetrical looking face, with a chimney perfectly in the center and two tall windows flanking each side of that chimney.
Here’s a picture of it the very first day we bought it over 15 years ago:
I’m glad to say that most of the front of ‘Our House’ looks very different from this old original picture, but the symmetry of the windows flanking that fireplace chimney is still there.
On the left of that chimney wall you can see how the front porch used to look. Since then we’ve added a patio covered with a pergola,
and beyond, out of the view of this picture is a front garden with iron fence.
But that’s not what I want to talk about today…
Back to the symmetry of the front face of the house… I wanted some sort of height there, but really didn’t want tall bushes to block the windows and view from inside, so this is what I came up with:
I had a pair of these big pots I bought at Pier 1 several years ago on clearance. So I put one centered on each window. And to gain some height???
It looked a little bare and lonely by itself, so I pulled some grapevines and added them to it along with a copper wire I ‘wired’ on plastic crystals and glass beads, (repeating that same feel from the chandy I showed you here). I also ‘planted’ some twigs alongside the pipe.
You see too at the base the solar light globes that I bought from Menard’s.
Now that it’s warm enough, I can add an annual vine to grow up the grapevines.
I think I like them, they look interesting, and if I come up with a better idea, I’m not out much, I will still use these great pots somewhere. But for now, they’re kinda interesting… what do you think?
