Let’s start with a picture to see what I’m talking about:
See the pot rocks? Here’s what going on with them… the very cute bell chime from World Market that is standing up inside it, my son gave to me for Christmas. I love it, and for sure didn’t want to poke it in the dirt outside and expose it to all the elements for it to just get wrecked within a few years, so I set it in the pot and secured it in place by using rocks…
It sits in the screened porch at ‘Our House’. Our grandchildren love to play the bells with the little mallet that came with it.
You can’t get much simpler than that… rocks dumped in a pot give you a place to display garden staked items where there isn’t the typical soil to poke into. (I guess it kind of reminds me of our Christmas tree display style too.)
It’s actually very, very sturdy now and the pot has become a fun place to drop our small found treasures of stones, driftwood and even a few pieces of sea-glass we’ve gathered from the beaches in Maine.
Now by cleverly staking the garden bells in rocks in a pot in the porch, (kinda sounds like Dr. Seuss…) they’ll have a much longer life protected from direct rain and snow.
I appreciate you stopping by.
