This product has recently come to my attention and due to its cleverness I must share it with you today.
Maybe you’ve all heard about 3M Command Strips. I know, I’ve seen the commercials too, especially at Christmastime. You know, how they randomly hang a Christmas stocking on the wall with one, then cleanly pull it off, which truthfully, made me think I would never have a use for a hook to randomly hang a stocking from. I mean seriously, look at the packaging pics, do I really need to indiscriminately hang a purse on a wall? No.
When I decided that I wanted to change out the wreaths on the doors with a pair of really cute grapevine baskets with long rope handles, I needed to find a new way to hang them. I could have used a long ribbon from the top of the door like the wreaths were hung, but I really wanted a simpler looking approach. Thinking I was going to use some sort of a suction cup hook, but not convinced they would hold well enough, I saw these in the store and decided to give them a shot.
I found them in a dark bronze finish that coordinates with my door really well.
These 3M Command hooks have stuck on the exterior of the doors through a lot of wind, freezing temps and dampness. I do have a roof over the porch so they haven’t gotten truly wet, so I don’t know about that. But so far, so good.
On the back you can see the white strip that holds them in place. When you want to move the hooks, apparently you just pull that white tab down, and it stretches until it comes off cleanly. 3M sells replacement strips to remount the hook somewhere else. Pretty clever.
I’m impressed with this product that I, for so many years thought I’d never have a use for. I can see too, that these 3M hooks would be very useful for renters as well.
