Well, this collage is looking rather beautiful now, isn’t it? The sofa, is the center, as it was the inspiration in creating this welcoming cottage themed room in my dear friend’s home. Next came the pair of chairs, then the rescued writing desk found a home on the left and hand-painted cabinet on the right, followed by the table and 2 chairs off the front window.
Now, let’s see what’s on the back wall facing you as you enter this room…
The height of this dark cabinet works wonderfully as an ‘anchor’ on the far wall between a pair of windows, it gives visual weight due to its height and dark color to that wall. Another advantage of this cabinet on the far wall is it offers intrigue to the room and pulls your interest into the space.
This dark step-back cupboard used to be in my possession, when it was, I painted it this dark greenish/black color and papered the inside back with the red wallpaper. I had it for a while, but it actually turned out to be a better fit for my friend’s front room, than mine. I told you we bartered a lot!
The blend of pottery, glass metal and wood pieces in and on top of the step-back shows the fun you can have with cottage style decorating. It offers such a creative canvas for weaving together pieces to proclaim your style through.
This is the last post featuring a separate element about this room where I don’t show you the full picture. The next post about this cottage styled room from “Someone Else’s House” will finally be the whole room reveal (That’s right! Next time will be the grand finale!, The whole kit and caboodle. The whole shooting match… Well, you get the picture, right? ) with finishing details, including the window treatments
Aren’t you excited to see it all put together?!
I appreciate you stopping by.
