Someone Else’s House…A Sun-filled Front Sitting Room…Inspiration Piece: Sofa

February 26, 2012

I’m featuring an exquisite home in the next several weeks in our “Someone Else’s House” category.

I’m going to do these posts a little different, and see how you like it…the whole room pics won’t be featured until the end of this tour. For fun, I’m going to just show you one element at a time in a collage format, building it piece by piece, just as you’d actually construct a room.

I’m starting with the sofa, because it was the kicking off or inspiration  piece for the whole room design plan.

My neighbor happens to be one of my best friends. We share so many interests, like our faith, our Dutch heritage, and we certainly share our love for decorating. That love has led us to work on numerous decorating jobs together, including each other’s homes, and many times we have bartered back and forth furniture, rugs, window treatments, just about anything you can imagine you’d use in decorating we’ve probably swapped it, and yes, some of the items you’ll see in this room were at one time or another in my house, but she has found a new creative life for them here.

However, not this piece, this sofa has received many compliments due to both this beautiful distressed finish wood case but also because it has amazingly comfy cushions to sink into…what a stunning piece!

And it’s really a perfect sofa for here too, with the cute detail of a rolled top on the back of it, because it’s located with the back facing out toward the front entry. And the colors in the sofa fabric are welcoming, cheerful colors, (just like my friend’s personality!). So it’s a beautiful greeting into the space.

Yep, it’s sooo welcoming to nestle into! This sofa isn’t the only seating in this sun-filled space…so you’ll see, in the next addition to the collage…

As always, please feel free to share this blog with your friends, as well as on Facebook and Pinterest the more the merrier!

I appreciate you stopping by.

That is a beautiful piece. It would be difficult to find a floral sofa nowadays, much less one as lovely and inviting as yours.

It is a very pretty couch. It looks like it would be so comfortable, just what a couch needs to be. Love the rolled back look, I have rolled arms and really like the look. I’m also of half dutch descent. My father’s side is dutch, and dad and his family are from Haust, Holland. Spoke Dutch and all. Thanks for sharing all your creative inspiration at Sunday’s Best.

Did she add the wood to the sofa? I’ve never seen one like this. I have a This End Up sofa and love seat, and maybe I could add the “millwork” and paint them white. Husband will not be on board with any of that 🙂
